Types of notifications
Within your user profile under the rules tab, there is a multitude of notification rules that can be customized to a broad or granular event.
This article covers the different types of events that occur in Lineage Link and a description of what each notification rule does.
- Shipment notifications (appointments)
- Order notifications
- Inventory notifications (applies to legacy "holds management" users only)
We recommend users check out the article, Customize your notification rules, before referencing the events below.
Note: Currently, within Lineage Link any “when” events that are for an exception are not within Lineage Link currently.
Shipment notifications (appointments)
"When" event | Description |
Someone creates a shipment | Triggers a notification whenever a shipment is created. |
Someone posts an update on a shipment | Triggers a notification whenever an update is received on the shipment. |
A shipment is approaching late | When the Approaching Late threshold for the customer on the shipment is breached, a notification will be triggered. |
A shipment is running late | When the Running Late threshold for the customer on the shipment is breached, a notification will be triggered. |
A customer is removed from a shipment | Triggers whenever a customer is removed from any shipment. Add additional criteria the rule to specify which customers as needed. |
A carrier is removed from a shipment | Triggers whenever a carrier is removed from any shipment. Add additional criteria the rule to specify which carriers as needed. |
A shipment is added to an order | Triggers when a shipment becomes associated with a particular order. |
A shipment is removed from an order | Triggers when a shipment is dissociated from a particular order. |
A shipment status changes | Triggers whenever the shipment status changes. Add additional criteria to determine which statuses or specific shipments should be monitored. |
Someone edits a shipment segment | Triggers a notification when details are changed in the Details tab of a shipment for a selected segment of information. For instance, if you need to monitor shipments for anytime a PO# is added to the Customer block, you can select the Customer IDs segment when building the rule. |
A tag is added/removed from a shipment | Triggers a notification when a tag that is defined in the rule is added or removed from a shipment. |
Someone adds/updates a document on a shipment | Triggers a notification when a document is added to a shipment. Add additional criteria to specify that a notification should only be triggered for certain types of documents or entities who added the document. |
Order notifications
"When" event | Description |
Someone creates an order | You need to be alerted any time an order is created in your tenant, or for the selected group(s). |
Someone posts an update on an order | You need to know when an order is updated using the Post Update function under the Fast Action Button. |
Someone mentions you/your group on an order | Enable this to make sure you receive a notification any time someone @mentions you by name, or a group you belong to within an order. |
A carrier is added/removed from an order | If you need to monitor specific carriers that should be used to transport order contents, enable this notification to know when a carrier is added or removed, and you can then ensure the order is added to the appropriate shipment for execution. |
An order is added to a shipment | You are tracking how orders are completed and would like to be alerted. |
An order is removed from a shipment | You are monitoring when orders are removed from shipments to ensure they are completed on another shipment. |
An order changes phase | You oversee adding required documentation to orders when complete, so configure this notification to alert you when orders move from the Ship phase to the Bill phase. |
Tags are added/removed from an order | If your organization has a tagging system for orders, enable this notification to see when tags are added and removed. Works for any tag that has been created in your tenant. |
Someone edits order details | Select a specific category from the list of options to be alerted when certain order details are changed. |
Someone adds/updates a document on an order | You need to be alerted when order documentation is updated, perhaps to complete the invoicing process with your customer. This includes the notification of a BOL being added to the order. |
Inventory notifications (applies to legacy "holds management" users only)
"When" event | Description/Example of use |
Inventory is placed on hold | Triggers whenever inventory is placed on hold. |
Inventory is released from hold | Triggers whenever a hold on inventory is released. |
Note: You will not receive notifications for hold transactions that you placed through your own Lineage Link user account.
